It is recommended to avoid buying a puppy from breeders whose dogs have been known to suffer from congenital diseases. Skin problems are rather common in Bulldogs. Demodex is a hereditary condition that can lead to severe hair loss. Care is also essential to keep Bulldogs healthy. Numerous folds on the skin are a favorable place for bacteria to develop. Therefore, pay special attention to washing and regular cleaning of folds. It is recommended to wipe the skin of the Bulldog with a damp cloth.

Since Bulldogs have an undershot bite, they experience breathing difficulties very often. Elongated soft palate causes much trouble in Bulldogs. To help the dog survive hot weather, supply it with shade and accessible water.

Structural problems also occur in Bulldogs. Puppies under the age of twelve months should be kept an eye on. Do not expose them to high jumps and too much exercise. The bones of little Bulldogs can be too fragile for strenuous work.
