They are amiable pets, which do well in an apartment assuming they are exercised daily. The French type is much smaller in comparison to its relatives. The dogs we can see nowadays are different from their ancestors. The breed is descended from the ancient Asiatic mastiff. The development of the breed took place in Great Britain and the name of the breed refers to the robust look of a little bull, as well as to the power with which this dog attacked bulls in arena combat in the past.
